REALLY ARKANSAS?!?

So it's Lancome's free gift time which means... it's traveling time for me. I take time to go to each of the stores out here and help in any way I can by either doing makeovers, helping clients, or just making sure that the customers are aware of the great deal available. Lately however Arkansas has decided to make my travel time..... crazy weather time.

This week has been filled with exciting weather adventures while I'm away from home.

Tuesday night I was supposed to work at the Fayetteville Dillards but received a call from my boss saying that she was at the store and there were strong winds, hail, and the talk of possible tornado warnings. She suggested that I stay home for the night and not make my way out in the weather, I thankfully agreed.

On Thursday I began making the hour long trek to the Ft. Smith Dillards and as I began my trip the weather seemed fine and only slightly overcast. After only 15 min. however, I found myself in 60 mph winds, rain, and hail. At one point on the road there were 8 cars parked underneath an overpass waiting out the hail storm. I continued on, saying about 3-4 prayers in a row. Thankfully, the hail subsided and all I needed to worry about were the 2 semi trucks that so generously cut me off at different moments in the drive. *Yes, I used my horn with great force.* The weather finally calmed down by the time I reached the store. While helping a customer in the store, we heard a noise start up and she immediately jumped and turning to me said "Are those the tornado sirens?" Thankfully, we discovered it was just a maintenance worker vacuuming and she settled down. It seemed as though the storm had passed and as I began making the hour long trek back home I felt confident that all was over. Psych!! After about 20 min. of driving dark storm clouds covered the sky and I found myself in strong wind, pelting rain, thunder and lightening. I followed my routine from before of going 5-10 miles under the speed limit, staying in the right hand lane, and saying 3-4 prayers in a row. I arrived home safely and ready for bed. Too bad Baby girl decided she was too excited to settle down and let me sleep.

Last night was by far the best! I had looked at the weather report and only saw reports of thunderstorms with slight rain. I drove the 45 min. to the Rogers Dillards and only had some strong wind and light rain to deal with. I went inside and began helping customers and answering questions of the girl working at the counter. Suddenly I heard the Cosmetics Manager having a discussion on the telephone saying "Really? Are you serious? Where would be the safest places to take the customers? I'll wait for your call, and if needs be, make the announcement." I knew from the look on her face, and a few customers with IPhones, that this was not good news. Apparently there had been a touch down of a tornado spiral not too far away. There were spirals coming our direction that were touching down, lifting, then touching down again. Not too long afterwards she made the announcement that in 5 min. they would be locking down the steel doors and that all customers/employees needed to make their way to the lower level (our level) and take shelter in either the shoe stockrooms, or lingerie dressing rooms. We had a few people opt. to leave and take their chances on the road or elsewhere but the majority of us began packing ourselves away in the designated areas. We waited for about 45 min. until we were given the all clear that the storm had already passed over us and we were no longer in danger. I finished out my shift and headed back home in weather slightly stronger than the weather I had driven through earlier that night.

I can't wait to see what kind of weather will be awaiting me tonight as I head off to work at the Fayetteville Dillards!! Considering the fact that we're already having a pretty nice thunder, lightening, and rain storm I'm sure the weather won't disappoint later this evening. I guess that is what we get for living in areas nicknamed "Tornado Alley", excitement at every turn of the weather! At least our poor yard/flowers are getting some much needed moisture!- Yeah, I don't water, "I'm going green",or more accurately.... yellow.

The one thing I have noticed with each weather adventure is the fact that our little girl either really likes the exciting weather, or hates it. Either way, whenever I've been driving or huddled in a lingerie dressing room, she is rolling, kicking, and somersaulting like crazy. And let me tell you.... this girl can kick! Sometimes I wonder if she's going to kick a hole straight through me, and make a new escape route for herself. Apparently, she's going to be a handful, but we can't wait to meet her. And I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over.... IT'S TAKING FOREVER!!!

P.S. If you're wondering where all of the cute pictures of our little ones have been lately, we're having problems with importing our images from our camera. I think it's our USB cable. Oh technology... how I love/hate thee.

One of those days...

Today has been one of those days....

One of those days where you wish family lived closer so you could drop the kiddos off and run away for a few hours. It all began at 7am when the sound of the boys fighting and crying come flooding into our peaceful bedroom. I had a feeling right away (call it mother's intuition) that today was going to be "one of those days".
Into the room came Blayne, holding his hand to his head, saying "Mommy, I got hurt.". We hear this phrase about 5-7 times a day because our littlest nugget is the biggest klutz known to man, he can barely walk a straight line or on level ground without hurting himself somehow. The phrase following his usual phrase was a new one however... "Mommy, I need chocolate.".

Upon further inspection I realized he already had a very pronounced ring of chocolate around his mouth.

Which could only mean....
Big Brother had been up on the counters and in the cupboards again. Xander is in the stage of 'I'm so big, I don't need help or permission.', he also has a very difficult time listening. I swear sometimes when I am talking to him all he hears is the voice of Charlie Brown's teacher "mwah, mwah, mwah" in different tones and inflections.
As I made my way into the front room Xander quickly pronounced his innocence claiming "Blayne do it! I don't have nothing!". He held his left hand, palm open, high up in the air... but his right hand clung tightly to one of his shoes. When I said "let me see your other hand" he quickly lifted it, dropping his shoe, and all the chocolate chips hidden inside. As I spend the next 20 min. preparing breakfast and cleaning up chocolate chips, they spent time in time out for doing dangerous things and not asking permission.
After Zach left for work the boys decided they didn't need to eat their breakfasts and only needed more chocolate, I then informed them that they would stay in their seats until their breakfast was done. They did eat, but with much accompanied whining and complaining that my food was "yucky".
The nicest part of the day was spent in IChat form singing Happy Birthday to my mommy. Thankfully, they were well behaved, and ultra adorable while talking to their Nana and Papa Kendell.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!! HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!
Shortly after turning the computer off is when the chaos began. They began screaming, crying, and fighting. After getting into something they know they are not to touch, and having a big fight they were both sent to their rooms to calm themselves down and have Time Out #2 for the day. After 20 min. I walked into Xander's room to discover that he was still screaming and throwing a fit for being sent to Time Out, and that he had destroyed his room in retaliation. *Usually a Blayne tactic.* He was quickly informed that that behavior was not acceptable and that he would not be allowed out of his room until he cleaned it up. Blayne on the other hand was unusually quiet so I opened his door to find that he had stripped his clothes off in frustration and was laying naked in the corner of his old room under the picture of Zach and myself. He stood up when he heard the door squeak and said "I be by you and daddy.". Blayne and I then had some nice time together, and I had a very enjoyable chat with my fabulous sister-in-law Tasha. Thank you Tash!!! Meanwhile... it took Xander 45 min. to finally calm down and clean up his mess. By that time it was lunch time and once again the whining and complaining that my food was "yucky" came into play.
They were sent to their room for nap time, which went without a hitch. Or so I wished.
I had to go in 3 times, because they were playing and yelling, to remind them that it was nap time and time for them to calm down and take a nap. Ten minutes after my last visit to their room I heard Blayne coughing and crying and walked in to find Blayne on the top bunk with Xander (apparently Xander has taught him how to climb up without the ladder-oh joy.) and little white balls EVERYWHERE. They had gotten hold of a small massage pillow a good friend had given to me, ripped it open with their teeth and thrown the itsy, bitsy, teeny tiny little white balls-the kind that stick to everything- all over the beds and themselves. They were stripped down, placed in the shower, and the 3 1/2 hour cleaning process began. They were sent to Blayne's old room to take their naps and stay out of my way while cleaning. But they decided not sleeping, and fighting was a better solution.
After sweating so profusely that my shower earlier that day seemed pointless, and having cramps from crouching on my hands and knees with a vacuum on both the bottom and top bunk beds, I threw dinner in the oven handed the boys some books and puzzles and raced off to the bathroom to get myself ready to go to work.
Then I received a call from my sweet and wonderful boss saying that she heard there was severe weather (hail, severe wind, and possible tornadoes) coming our way, and didn't want me coming in to work. She takes such good care of me. As we were talking I heard a large thump sound, and found the boys and all of their books from the bookshelf in a pile on the floor. They were sent to the living room while I picked up the mess and called Zach to whine hysterically for about the forth time today. Thank you honey for always taking my calls, even when you're dealing with stress of your own. You keep me sane!!
After the book cleanup it was time for the toy cleanup in the front room and another great chat with Tash telling me Zach's sister Aleshia had had her little baby girl! Congrats Lesh!!
Then, my hero of a husband came home and made everything better.
Like I said..... it was "just one of those days".
Maybe the next time I have that feeling in the morning... I will listen to it, lock my door, and climb under the covers for safety.
But more likely, I will remember that being a mom is a 24/7 responsibility, pray for the best, and try to only call Zach once with my hysteria.

Here's the proof of the little nuggets destruction:

See how teeny tiny the little balls are?
And they....

were...

everywhere!!

Both top and bottom bunk, and from head to toe on each nugget.

They seem so innocent don't they?

Need some help?

Since day one....

Xander has been eager to assist anyone and everyone in need of help (even if they don't realize they need help). He is usually more than eager to help me around the house, to help you eat your food, or to help you choose what clothes to wear-hope you like the color green. It really is one of his greatest qualities. He's very thoughtful and selfless.

When Blayne came along his desire to help became even stronger. Whether it was getting Blayne a blanket, a binky, a bottle, or even just giving him a ride around the house....

Xander loved doing things with, and for his little brother.

Recently, that desire has become even more pronounced. When we started potty training Blayne (yes, it's still going on.... Ugh, kill me now) Xander was right by my side saying "I'll show him how! Look Blayne! Now you try!", and even asking him in intervals throughout the day "Blayne? You need to go pee pee on the potty?". I'll admit it too.... he had better success with getting him to go than I did. Even now, he will help me take Blayne into the bathroom, help him get his pants and diaper off, and help him on the potty. The only problem comes when I am not there and he gives Blayne the training toilet and then tries to clean up the mess once Blayne is done. Let's just say the training toilet has now officially become a second step stool. * Also in my defense... I am not a pregnant woman ignoring her children. If I am not there it is because these events usually take place behind my back while I am cleaning up meals, putting dishes in the dishwasher, or using the restroom myself. They are intelligent boys who have figured out the length of time certain tasks take me and usually wait for those moments to try out their creativity and independence.*

Well, last night was definitely the cherry on top....
after arriving home from a night of Young Womens, Zach informed me of Xander and Blayne's latest "potty time adventure".

Apparently Blayne had pooped in his diaper and Xander announced to Zach that he was "very, very stinky.". Zach responded with a "Thank you Xander, I'll be in to change him in just a few minutes.". Apparently, that was much too long of a wait in Xander's eyes and when Zach walked into the back bedroom he found Blayne lying on the changing pad with a new diaper underneath his bottom and Xander pulling up the front part to fasten it together. Zach was even more astonished to realize that there weren't any poo-poo remains on his bottom, and that the poopy diaper and used wipes had been folded up and placed in the diaper trash can. Our four year old managed to clean and change a dirty diaper efficiently, correctly, and cleanly.
I know some grown men who can't even do that!!

I'll be honest... the realization that soon there will be three little nuggets in our house to chase after has made my nerves a little on edge. Just wondering if I really can handle all of it when Zach's not home, without going a little 'nutso-bejutso', has seemed a bit daunting to me. Especially, when I thought about the fact that two of them might just be in diapers at the same time. But after last night..... I've realized things will be just fine. Especially since I've got Xander on my side!!

P.S. If any grown men are interested in diaper changing classes.....
Xander will do training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7pm, for the cost of $25.00. Sign up soon! Spots are limited!!

SORRY LADIES.....

HE'S TAKEN!!

(Yeah, I know.... these pictures of me are not flattering but I still love them.)

Since day one of being married to Zach I have had to deal with women:

-checking him out,
-giggling and getting nervous while talking to him,
-flirting with him,
-and even a few trying to steal him away from me.

I take all of these actions as a compliment, and only get upset when women are inappropriate, and blatant with their advances.

*I'm talking to you... the waitress who was trying to show off her "goodies" and kept touching his shoulder/arm asking if "there was anything at all" she could get my husband. Did you really think I didn't notice that you didn't talk to me, or look at me, once all night? Also, you saw the rings on our fingers, our two and a half kids, and you still went for it? Tacky.*

It really doesn't upset me very often because, after all..... WHY WOULDN'T THEY?!?
There are the very obvious reasons to like Zach:
-He's handsome
-He's intriguing
-He's funny, smart, hard working
-And he actually knows how to dress and looks very dashing. (Sorry majority of men out there but... some droopy jeans with a stained t-shirt are not my idea of looking good.)

Then there are the reasons that you can only see if you're close to Zach:
-He's an amazing dad
-He's very thoughtful
-He's giving
-He's helpful
-He's patient
-And... when a certain pregnant lady is ornery and snappy in the mornings... he tries his best to shrug it off and remember that she has extra hormones that are driving her a little crazy lately, and doesn't even bring it up a few hours later when he calls her from work.

*Yes, people this is me making a public apology for being a brat to my husband this morning, and not getting him breakfast before he left for work. Sorry, honey*

Basically ladies, I know I've got it good and I'm not giving him up anytime soon!

P.S. Thanks honey for buying me special lotion for my nasty feet, and then actually massaging the lotion into my swollen, nasty "stumps" and "cankles". You're the best!!

"I just love her..."

There are a few things that Xander just LOVES!!

He loves his family:

(especially his daddy and little brother)

He loves the color green, the outdoors, and anything involving dogs or trains. He loves singing, dancing, and listening to music.

He loves reading books:

He loves playing with family and friends:

And he LOVES desserts, candy, and anything sweet:

The person he's sweetest on lately.....

"my teacher Sister Walker".

This is Lindsey Walker:

She was Xander's teacher when he was in Sunbeams and he just adores her to pieces. Anytime he sees her, whether in person or in photos, it's "Oh... that my teacher! I just love her!" When she gave a talk in church he was up on his feet waving frantically at her saying "That my teacher! That my teacher!" Infact, the first few weeks of not being in her class anymore were a little traumatic for him. Let's just say that many tears were shed, and during Sharing Time her lap was occupied.
I must say that I can't blame him. She is an amazing teacher who loves the kids she teaches and finds unique and fun ways to enhance the lessons she shares with them.

For example... take these cute little sandals she made for the kids:

Xander thought they were "the coolest" and wore them everyday for weeks (up until daddy bought him new sketchers with lights).

Then there was the time they were talking about creation and animals and Xander got his very own 'Grow a lion':

He loved watching it grow bigger and bigger in water and played with it until it began to look as though it had mange and had pieces falling off. (*I gave it a quiet and loving burial*)

You may think that I might be jealous of Xander loving another woman almost as much as he loves me (I choose to believe I'm still number one), but infact... I'm just honored that he was lucky enough to have her as a teacher for as long as he did.
Coming from a home that was, and is, blessed with one of the world's BEST teachers (my mother's students can attest to that) it's very easy for me to spot out one of the good ones when I see them.
And Lindsey... you're definitely one of the good ones!
WE LOVE YOU SISTER WALKER!!!
Thanks for being so wonderful to our little Xander, and for blessing his life!

Rollercoaster ride

So lately I feel as though I'm riding a roller coaster. Maybe it has something to do with the crazy surge of hormones that keep me soaring up and down, up and down..... but never the less, I'm starting to feel a little woosy.
Even when the day seems to drag on and I seem to get absolutely nothing done, by the end of the day I am exhausted. However, when bed time finally arrives.... my body suddenly wakes with energy and is itching to move.
IT'S SO ANNOYING.
The worst part is that poor Zach is going through the same thing. We get into bed, I talk until he gets drowsy, then as soon as he's comfy... his body keeps him awake for most of the night. Either his body is having pregnancy sympathy, or all of our bodies haven't yet adjusted to Daylight Savings Time yet. Seriously, even the boys bodies and sleep patterns are a little out of whack. It doesn't help that I think Blayne is going through a growth spurt and consistantly wakes up at odd times throughout the night, then comes barging into our bedroom early in the morning yelling "Morning Mommy! Morning Daddy! Time to wake up!" Poor Zach and I just lay there as long as humanly possible trying to convince ourselves to make our muscles work and function.
Whatever the reason for our recent insomnia I hope it ends soon. This little bear is getting ornery and needs some hybernation time!! RAAAR!!!!
